Dr. David L.T. Singer, an Army Veteran and Doctor of Ministry, was introduced to Veterans Legal Associates through a community of Veterans in the local Michigan area and the Veterans Treatment Court in partnership with the Clare/Gladwin County courts. The Treatment Courts highlighted the impactful work Veterans Legal Associates are doing in support of our nation’s Veterans.
As a fellow Veteran, the Chaplain proudly served just under twenty years in the United States Army before retiring in 1997. His military service included time in the Army Reserve, and the Michigan National Guard. The latter was particularly formative as the Chaplain transitioned to a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Battery after serving in an infantry company. The Chaplain joined the MLRS program during the early stages of the War on Terror, a time when the National Guard was shifting from a peacetime posture to active readiness for real-world deployments. This transition not only reflected the increasing seriousness of global events but also deepened his connection to the military and local communities.
Prior to his assignment in the MLRS, the Chaplain served as an Army Recruiter. That role was both rewarding and challenging, recruiting during that era came with significant family and personal costs, but it also enabled the Chaplain to engage directly with the community and support service members on a deeper level.
During his service, he was called to pastoral counseling and ministry. He began offering pastoral care, preaching, and teaching as opportunities arose. Committed to professional and spiritual growth, he later returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in counseling, followed by a Master’s in Apologetics, and most recently, a Doctorate in Biblical Research, which he completed in December 2024.
He is deeply committed to supporting Veterans as they navigate life after service. He is from a long lineage of military service, dating back to the Civil War. That tradition continues today through his two sons and two daughters, all of whom share in this legacy of service.
